Why Choose Connecticut Caring Companions

Serving Families Across Connecticut
Light housekeeping services are available statewide.
Housekeeping in home care is a safety intervention wearing ordinary clothes. Most falls at home involve something entirely mundane — a throw rug, a cord across a walkway, a stack of newspapers on the stairs, a wet bathroom floor. Keeping the path from bed to bathroom clear does more to prevent a fracture than most of what families worry about.
Our caregivers handle light housekeeping as part of the care visit: dishes and kitchen surfaces, bathroom cleaning, laundry and linens, dusting and vacuuming living areas, taking out trash and recycling, making the bed, tidying walkways, and keeping the refrigerator free of food that has quietly expired. This is homemaker service, not deep cleaning or heavy-duty work — we do not do windows, roofs, gutters, or anything requiring a ladder.
Because the caregiver is in the home regularly, the housekeeping visit doubles as a check on the environment. Spoiled food, unopened mail piling up, laundry that is not being changed, or a bathroom that has become hard to use are among the earliest reliable signs that someone is struggling, and they get reported. Our room-by-room home safety checklist covers what we look for.
How Care Begins
1. Walk the home together
During the free consultation we identify the trip hazards and the rooms that have become hard to maintain, and we agree on what is in scope.
2. Housekeeping folded into the care visit
Tasks are built into the regular schedule rather than billed as a separate cleaning service, so the client sees one familiar caregiver.
3. Safety first, cosmetics second
Walkways, bathroom, kitchen, and stairs are prioritized over anything decorative.
4. Changes get reported
A caregiver who notices the fridge is full of spoiled food or the laundry is not being changed raises it, and a Registered Nurse reviews what it may indicate.
